Shaheed Barkat Memorial Museum

Shaheed Barkat Memorial Museum : The movement started in the capital in 1952 about our mother tongue is known as Bhasha Andolan. Language Martyr Abul Barakat Memory Museum and Library was launched on March 25, 2012 to commemorate the memory of Language Martyrs with various historical materials including photographs, letters written about loved ones, photos of Language Martyrs of the various successive events of that language movement. A portrait named after Shaheed Abul Barkat has been installed in the premises of Dhaka Shaheed Barkat Museum (শহীদ বরকত স্মৃতি জাদুঘর) next to Dhaka University, the heart of the capital Dhaka, in a pleasant environment with green grass.

What is Shaheed Barkat Museum?

The ground floor of this museum is a two-storied building that has been preserved to display the watches used by Shaheed Barakat, letters, photographs, language movement documentaries, tea cup-piritches and Ekushey medals. And on the second floor there is a collection and library of various books written about him. This library has collected thousands of books related to language movement and liberation war. Guides are arranged to introduce various unknown subjects to incoming visitors. Besides, arrangements have been made to organize various competitions and art exhibitions on special days. Shaheed Barkat Museum Visit Schedule

Every Sunday to Thursday (these five days) from 10 am to 4 pm, Shaheed Barkat Memorial Museum is open for all visitors from home and abroad. And every Friday and Saturday (these two days) the museum has been declared closed as a public holiday.

How to Go Shaheed Barkat Memorial Museum

Shaheed Barkat Memorial Museum located on the west side of Salimullah Muslim Hall of Dhaka University can be reached by rickshaw or CNG from Shahbagh, Gulisthan, Motijheel and Newmarket.
